News from Masulita Uganda

January-March 2007

Praise God brethren, we are glad to have the opportunity to speak to you once again. The Lord has been good to us in this period of time as we enter the New Year. We have seen his goodness in our lives and ministry at large.

At the close of last year, we began a project to build flush toilets at the church to manage the problem of poor sanitation. We have been concerned for some time as to how to manage the pit latrines when we host large crowds of people who come to services at the church. It became clear to us that flush toilets would serve more effectively. The new facility has eight rooms and two shower rooms. We finished construction of the building and have now purchased the toilets. To complete the work we need 2.5 million shillings or 1,400 US Dollars.

Pastor Robert and his family had a wonderful trip to the US and are now home. They told us of the gracious hospitality they enjoyed during their three month visit. We thank God for His protection for them during their travel.

We held our 6th annual conference at the beginning of this year, in January. It was a success in all ways, for the hand of God was with us. One difference between this conference and our previous conferences is that we didn’t hold it inside the church building. We recognized the need for a bigger space since the church could no longer contain our congregation along with our delegate visitors. Many proposals were made as to where we could hold our conference conveniently. We decided to set up a shelter on the church property next to the church building. We knew this would cost more than previous conferences because we had to rent tarpaulins and buy poles to make the shelter. Though we did not have the funds, the Almighty God provided for us through the church and through friends and those who sought to bless us like you. The shelter we made was large enough to accommodate more than 1,000 people. Though it wasn’t the most comfortable place to sit in during the hot sun in Uganda, it was provided enough shelter for hungry souls to receive from God.

We are expecting to also host future conferences outside of the church building because of the growing number of delegates that continue to attend them. Our prayer is that the Lord may provide a large tent that can accommodate up to 1,500- 2,000 people. With this tent we will be able to not only host larger groups at our conferences, but also begin hosting conferences in the outlying villages for the less privileged who do not have the opportunity or resources to come to our church to receive the word of God. Thus, we are making this appeal to friends and those who wish to bless this work, to help us fulfill this great call to reach those who would not otherwise be reached.

We have also begun touching the hearts of the people who attend these conferences by providing for their basic needs, as much as possible. Our main focus is to draw the people in the outlying villages and we find that these people lack necessities like clothing. Thus we are focusing on providing this need. We pray that if you have some clothes you no longer use please send them and we will provide them to those who need them most.

Pastor Darryl Carnaly, from North Pole, Alaska, met with the pastors, providing teaching and guidance and getting to know more of them on an individual basis. We found out that many of the village pastors need training and counseling in different aspects of ministry. They have been hurt and manipulated by ministers from urban areas and the people they are pastoring. Therefore, at Masulita Worship Centre we have a new strategy, to counsel with these pastors as well as to provide training.

It is our desire and prayer, God willing, to set up a native language Lugandan Bible School that is accessible by our village pastors. We are looking at the possibility of either providing materials and training one week every month in their villages, or opening the school in Masulita. This training will provide a stronger foundation and help reduce the risk of Christians being taken in by false doctrines. We believe that we should have started this training already. However, we do not presently have the funds to provide the necessary materials, training and care for them in Masulita, nor to travel to their villages to provide the training. We believe the Lord is calling us to this ministry because He has given us several Bible college trained ministers who can do the work -- with more who are still in Bible College.

We continue to thank all of you who have been supporting us financially and spiritually and continue to call upon those with the heart for ministry to come and join hands with us.

May the Lord bless you all,

Pastor Robert
